How to Use the Line Breeding Feature

Step 1: Navigate to the Breeders Section

From the Everbreed dashboard, click on Breeders in the left-hand menu.
Once in the Breeders section, click on the Line Breeding button at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Select a Buck and a Doe

After clicking Line Breeding, a pop-up will appear.
In this pop-up, you will see dropdown menus to select a buck and a doe.
Choose the two rabbits you want to compare by selecting them from the dropdowns.

Step 3: View the Relatedness Score

Once you’ve selected a buck and a doe, the system will generate a Relatedness Score (Coefficient of Inbreeding, or COI), which measures the inbreeding coefficient between the pair.
The Relatedness Score (COI) measures how closely related a buck and doe are based on shared ancestors. It’s calculated by identifying common ancestors in both pedigrees and determining how many generations back they appear. The more common ancestors and closer they are, the higher the COI, which may indicate inbreeding risks.

Step 4: Understand the Results

The system will display one of the following messages based on the relatedness score:
0% to 6.25% (Low Risk): “This breeding pair has a low inbreeding risk and is generally considered safe for healthy offspring.”
6.25% to 12.5% (Moderate Risk): “This breeding pair has a moderate inbreeding risk; proceed with caution and monitor the offspring’s health.”
12.5% to 25% (High Risk): “This breeding pair has a high inbreeding risk, which may lead to health issues; consider alternative pairings.”
Above 25% (Very High Risk): “This breeding pair has a very high inbreeding risk and is strongly discouraged due to the likelihood of severe genetic problems.”
You will also see a table that lists any common ancestors shared between the buck and doe, along with their relationship to each rabbit.
